Repeal of the words "Chief Lands Officer"
2. Wherever the words "Chief Lands Officer" appears in any provisions of any enactments or any subsidiary legislation, such words shall, immediately on the coming into operation of this Act, be -
(a) repealed from any such provisions of such enactments or such subsidiary legislation as the case may be; and
(b) substituting the words "Director of Lands".
CHIEF LANDS OFFICER (SPECIAL PROVISIONS) (REPEAL) ACT 2000
This is a very short but necessary Act which seeks to delete the words "Chief Lands Officer" wherever it appears in any provisions of any Act or Regulations which had been enacted during the British Colonial Administration and be replaced with the words "Director of Lands".
This arose as the result of the restructuring of the Lands Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Rural Development during which restructuring the title "Chief Lands Officer" was considered as being no longer appropriate to use any more and therefore the need to their striking out altogether and be replaced with the more common words of "Director of Lands".
So in effect the amendment is required as a consequence of such change from "Chief Lands Officer" to "Director of Lands". The change referred to is contained in clause 2 of the Act.
