A gateway to Pacific legal research. The Gateway is a PacLII project.
The objective of this Gateway is to provide a single website that provides access to legal content and research resources for Pacific Island countries. The Pacific Legal Gateway assembles many pertinent Pacific regionional legal information resources as well as providing free access to certain subscription legal databases for the Judiciary and Public Legal Officers across PacLII jurisdictions.

Thomson Reuters Legal Databases are available through the Pacific Legal Gateway.
The Pacific Legal Gateway provides access to legal databases supplied by international publishers Thomson Reuters free of charge to members of the judiciary or public lawyers in the twenty Pacific jurisdictions that PacLII serves. If you would like free access to these databases through the Gateway and you meet the necessary criteria , please contact PacLII for further information.
Contains links to Pacific governmental websites, Pacific Parliamentary websites containing online legislation and Pacific law journals. Also contains links to non-governmental and international organisations either located in the Pacific or dedicated to serving the Pacific region.
Contains links to case law, legislation and secondary legal materials for jurisdictions (Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America) on which much of Pacific law is based.
Contains links to legal and general reference materials such as dictionaries, legal abbreviation guides and encyclopaedias.
Contains links to legal gateways from jurisdictions outside South Pacific Island Nations, including Australia, Canada, European Union, France, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America. Do not be afraid to click through these different resources to discover many pertinent and interesting materials!
Contains links to important Pacific legal research resources, major search engines and large library catalogues. This section can be used as a jumping off point for general Pacific legal research.
Contains links to PDF guides which can help you with every stage of legal research. Contains guides to basic Internet use, researching Pacific law on PacLII as well as tips and tricks to better your general legal research skills.
Many legal professionals like to stay up to date on legal, local, regional and international news. The Pacific Legal Gateway makes this easier for you by linking to reputable Pacific news sources, both legal and general.
Pacific Judicial Development Program (PJDP)
The Pacific Judicial Development Program (PJDP) is intended to strengthen governance and the rule of law in 15 participating Pacific Island Countries. This will be achieved through a range of activities which will enhance the competence of judicial and court officers and improve the systems and processes they use. The Program will run for at least five years commencing in January 2007 and is jointly supported by AusAID and NZAID.
