AN ACT
TO AMEND THE STAMP DUTIES ACT

ENACTED by the Parliament of Fiji-

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Stamp Duties (Amendment) Act 1998.

Amendment of Schedule

2. Part I of the Schedule to the Stamp Duties Act (Cap. 205) is amended -

(a) Under the heading "DEBENTURE OR DEBENTURE STOCK," in the "Exemption" provision, by adding after "authority" the words, "or any refinancing or re-conveyance of the stamped amount of a debenture";

(b) Under the heading "MORTGAGE," in the "Exemption" provision, by adding after "purposes" the words, "or any refinancing or re-conveyance of the stamped amount of a mortgage".

Passed by the House of Representatives this Thirteenth day of May, in year of our Lord one Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Eight.

Passed by the Senate this Fourth day of June, in the year of our Lord One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Eight.
