SUGAR CANE GROWERS FUND (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1999

AN ACT

TO AMEND THE SUGAR CANE GROWERS FUND ACT

ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands-

Short title etc.

1.-(1) This Act maybe cited as the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (Amendment) Act 1999.

(2) In this Act-

“amendment Act” means the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (Amendment) Act 1998 (Act No.29 of 1998);

“principal Act” means the Sugar Cane Growers Fund Act (Cap. 207).

Interpretation

2. Section 2 of the principal Act is amended in the definition “Select Committee”-

(a) by deleting “No. 65” and substituting “No. 106A”;

(b) by deleting “26 June 1992” and substituting “2nd July 1999”.

3.-(1) Sections 4 and 15 of the principal Act are amended by repealing the amendments respectively made to them by sections 2 and 3 of the amendment Act.

(2) The amendment Act is repealed.

(3) Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection-

“(5) Any sum paid out of the Fund in the form of financial assistance under this section as amended by the Sugar Cane Growers (Amendment) Act 1998 is repayable over a period of 5 years commencing on 1st January 1999 out of the Consolidated Fund, which is appropriated accordingly in each of those years.”
