AN ACT
TO AMEND THE ROTUMA ACT

ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands -

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Rotuma (Amendment) Act 1998.

Regulations

2. Section 16 of the Rotuma Act (Cap. 122) is amended -

(a) in subsection (1) by inserting after "may" the words "subject to the approval of the Minister,";

(b) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting -

"(2) Regulations made under subsection (1) may prescribe penalties for breach of the regulations not exceeding a fine of $2,000 and imprisonment for 12 months.".

Approval and commencement of regulations

3. Section 20 of the Rotuma Act is repealed.
