AN ACT


TO AMEND CERTAIN LEGISLATION RELATING TO HEALTH SERVICES AND FOR RELATED MATTERS


ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands


Short title and commencement


1. This Act may be cited as the Health Services (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2002 and commences on a date appointed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.


Amendments to the Public Health Act


2. The Public Health Act (Cap. 111) is amended as set out in Schedule 1.


Amendments to the Public Hospitals and Dispensaries Act


3. The Public Hospitals and Dispensaries Act (Cap. 110) is amended as set out in Schedule 2.


Amendments to regulations


4. Without prejudice to the powers conferred under the Public Health Act and the Public Hospitals and Dispensaries Act to make regulations, the regulations listed in Schedule 3 are amended as set out in that Schedule.

Insert new definition Divisional Director for Health Services means the person appointed to such position to perform the functions specified for such position;

Delete the medical officer of health or for sanitary inspector and substitute Divisional Director for Health Services

Repeal the definition of medical officer in charge and substitute manager means the person appointed to such position to be the manager in charge for the management and supervision of a public hospital or public dispensary

Delete medical officer in charge and substitute manager

Delete that any person and substitute by a certificate signed by the District officer that a person who is
