AN ACT

TO AMEND THE AUDIT ACT

ENACTED by the Parliament of Fiji –

Part 1-PRELIMINARY

Short title, etc

1.-(1) This Act may be cited as the Audit (Amendment) Act, 1998.

(2) The Audit Act (Cap. 70) is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

Commencement

2. This Act commences on a date appointed by the Minister and published in the Gazette.

Part 2-AMENDMENTS OF PRINCIPAL ACT

Duties of Auditor-General

3. Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) "The" and substituting "In addition to performing the functions of the Auditor-General under section 167 of the Constitution, the".

Powers of Auditor-General

4. Section 7 of the Principal Act is amended –

(a) by omitting from subsection (1) "In the exercise of his" and substituting "In the performance of his or her functions under section 167 of the Constitution and of his or her";

(b) by omitting from subsection (2) "In the exercise of his duties under this Act, the Auditor-General or any person duly authorized by him" and substituting "In the performance of his or her functions under section 167 of the Constitution and of his or her duties under this Act, the Auditor-General or any person duly authorized by the Auditor-General"; and

(c) by inserting in paragraph (b) of subsection (2) "or she" after "he".

Repeal of section 12

5. Section 12 of the Principal Act is repealed.
