An Act to amend the Trustee Companies Act 1981-82

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short Title – This Act may be cited as the Trustee Companies Amendment Act 2009 and shall be read with and deemed part of the Trustee Companies Act 1981-82 (herein referred to as the "principal Act").

2. Application for provisional registration as a trustee company – Section 5 of the principal Act is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and inserting –

"(1) A company that is incorporated pursuant to the provisions of the Companies Act 1970-71 or registered as an overseas company under that Act, may make application to the Commissioner for provisional registration to carry on business as a trustee company and upon application shall pay to the Commissioner such fee and in such manner as may be prescribed by regulation."
