An Act to amend the Import Levy Act 9972

(29 April 1974

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by the authority, of the same as follows:

1. Short Title and commencement - (1) This Act may be cited as the Import Levy Amendment Act 1973-74 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Import Levy Act 1972 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

(2) This Act shall come into force on the day to be appointed by notification in the Gazette.

2. First Schedule amended - (1) The First Schedule to the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from the column headed "Rate of Import Levy" the rate of import levy shown corresponding to the item "Cigarettes" in the column headed "Item", that is "$1.75 per 1,000 cigarettes", and substituting the following rate of import levy "$3.75 per 1,000 cigarettes".

(2) The First Schedule to the principal Act is hereby further amended by adding to that Schedule those items and rates of import levy specified in the Schedule to this Act.

3. Second Schedule amended - The Second Schedule of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words "Motor Spirit".
