An act to amend the Customs Act 1913


(4 April 1977


BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by authority of the same, as follows:


1. Short Title – This Act may be cited as the Customs Act Amendment Act 1977 and shall read together with and deemed part of the Customs Act 1913 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act".)


2. Storage-charges – Section 22 of the principal Act is hereby repealed and the following new section substituted:


"22. (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-section(2) of this section, no charges shall be made by any controlling authority or other person who has control of a place used for the reception or storage of any goods so long as such goods remain subject to the control of Customs.


(2) Where any such goods remain subject to the control of Customs for a longer period than four working days after their reception into any place where such goods are normally stored there shall be payable on those goods by the importer or exporter thereof such storage charges as the controlling authority or other person who has control determines."


This Act is administered by the Customs Department.
