An Act to amend the Crimes Act 1969


(18 August 1972


BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session assembled, and by authority of the same, as follows:


1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Crimes Amendment Act 1972 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Crimes Act 1969 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).


2. Wilful Damage - Section 321 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following subsection:


"(4) Everyone who wilfully destroys or damages any property in any case not provided for elsewhere in this Act, shall be liable for-


(a) Imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year where the value of the property destroyed or damage done, does not exceed fifty dollars;


(b) Imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years where the value of the property destroyed or damage done, exceeds fifty dollars".
