An Act to amend the Cook Islands Act 1915


[27 November 1970


BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


1. Short Title—This Act may be cited as the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Cook Islands Act 1915 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).


2. Repeal of provisions no longer in force in Cook Islands—(1) The following enactments (being enactments which, pursuant to enactments of the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands, have ceased to be in force in the Cook Islands) are hereby repealed:


(a) Sections 176 to 212, 214 to 250, 252 to 261, 263 to 271, 273, 281 to 288, 290 to 299, 301 to 307, 315 to 325, 349, 594, 623, and 633 of the principal Act:


(b) Sections 4 to 6 and 13 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1921:


(c) Sections 27 to 30, 53, and 54 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1957:


(d) Sections 3 to 19 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1960.


(2) The following enactments are hereby consequentially repealed:


(a) Section 7 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1921:


(b) Section 2 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act (No. 2) 1948


(c) Sections 12 and 14 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1950:


(d) Sections 87 and 88, subsection (1) of section 89, and section 90 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1957 and so much of the Second Schedule to that Act as relates to section 325 of the principal Act:


(e) Sections 3, 4, and 6 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1962:


(f) Sections 4, 6, and 26 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1963:


(g) So much of the First Schedule to the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1965 as relates to sections 271 and 324 of the principal Act, and so much of the Second Schedule as relates to section 13 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1921, to sections 30 and 53 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1957, and to sections 3, 5, and 6 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1960:


(h) Section 4 of the Cook Islands Amendment Act 1966, and so much of the First Schedule as relates to sections 295, 297, and 313 of the principal Act.
