AN ACT to amend the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2000.

[7th November 2000]

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in Parliament assembled as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement - (1) This Act may be cited as the Money Laundering Prevention Amendment Act 2000 and is to be read together with and is deemed to be part of the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2000 ("the principal Act").

(2) This Act shall come into force on the day on which it is assented to by the Head of State.

2. Extension of time for Orders to freeze property - Section 20(7) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word "seven" and substituting the words "one hundred and eighty".

3. Retrospective application - Section 2 of this Act shall have retrospective application from the 14th day of June 2000 and shall apply to any proceedings currently before the Supreme Court of Samoa.
